A Purdue University–affiliated company using artificial intelligence to improve health care delivery has received a $500,000 investment from Purdue Research Foundation’s Foundry Investment Fund to help it advance medical technology.

The Purdue Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering congratulates the following undergraduate and graduate students who received awards and honors in summer and fall 2019.

Two staff members from the Purdue Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering were honored at the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity Recognition Luncheon. Cindy Holderbaum, academic programs administrative assistant, was honored for 15 years of service to Purdue. Tammy Siemers, senior graduate training program and professional development specialist, was honored for 10 years of service.

As a student, Leslie Bottorff forged her own path through Purdue’s interdisciplinary engineering program, working with the legendary Leslie Geddes, the Showalter Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering, among others, enroute to her BSIDE (Biomedical) degree in 1979. Two decades later, she was thrilled to learn about the establishment of a formal school of biomedical engineering at Purdue. She is a founding member of the school’s advisory board.

Sixteen student teams co-presented innovative engineering solutions for real patient, clinical, and healthcare needs at the 2019 Purdue University Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering Senior Design Presentations and Demonstrations. The annual event was held on Dec. 13 in a Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering lecture hall that was packed with industry and clinical mentors, faculty and staff, and friends and family who came to celebrate the students’ successes.
