Established in 2019, the Dean’s Leadership Scholars program recognizes exceptional undergraduate students who demonstrate academic achievement and a strong commitment to leadership. Scholars serve as trusted advisors to the dean, providing student perspectives on initiatives that shape the future of Purdue Engineering and enhance the student experience.

Weng brings a combination of leadership, mentorship and engineering design experience to the program.

As outreach chair of Purdue Men’s Club Volleyball, Weng coordinates club events, builds relationships with external teams and organizations, and promotes engagement across campus and with other club sports.

Within the Weldon School, Weng serves as an undergraduate teaching assistant for a biomedical engineering course, mentoring students and providing academic guidance as they develop confidence in solving complex technical problems.

Weng has also demonstrated his leadership through engineering design projects, including the development of a prosthetic elbow joint. Through these collaborative projects, he has helped integrate perspectives across disciplines and guide teams toward practical engineering solutions.

As a Dean’s Leadership Scholar, Weng will bring his experiences as a biomedical engineering student, mentor and student leader to conversations about the future of Purdue Engineering.
