What are you studying at Purdue?

I am studying Biomedical Engineering in Indianapolis.

What have been your favorite classes so far?

My favorite classes have been Human Physiology, Biomechanics, and Bioinstrumentation.

Why did you choose to come to Indianapolis?

I decided to come to Indianapolis because of the vibrant urban culture it oers. It was also an excellent choice academically because of its close proximity to major hospital networks, which provides valuable opportunities to build connections within my field of study.

What has your experience been like getting an early connection to
industry from being located in Indianapolis?

I have had the opportunity to connect with leaders from some of the largest companies in the medical and healthcare industries. Through these experiences, I have met with, toured the facilities of, and shared conversations over lunch with professionals from Cook Medical, Abbott, and Eli Lilly and Company.

What career field are you pursuing and why?

I decided to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering because I love to tinker and am passionate about making the world more accessible. Throughout my life, I have had friends, family members, and coworkers with physical disabilities that have aected their daily lives, and I have been inspired by watching each of them overcome those challenges. Biomedical engineering is the perfect intersection of innovation and service, allowing me to contribute to cutting-edge research and design while creating solutions that make a meaningful dierence in people's lives and in the community.

Are you part of any clubs or student activities? If so, which ones? Has that participation enhanced your college experience?

I am a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, a Student Ambassador for the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, and an undergraduate researcher in the Poudel Lab, where I conduct kidney imaging research. Additionally, I have been on a study abroad to Ireland, where I learned about medical device manufacturing. Each of these experiences has enhanced my college journey in a unique way.

Through my sorority, I have developed leadership skills by taking on leadership roles and learning how to eectively delegate tasks among my peers. As a Student Ambassador, I have built meaningful relationships with professors and fellow students within my program while strengthening my communication and mentorship skills. My research experience has provided me with valuable hands-on laboratory experience and has deepened my understanding of the research process. My study abroad experience broadened my perspective by immersing me in authentic new cultures while allowing me to explore biomedical engineering from a global viewpoint.

Outside of school and work, what are some of the things you enjoy about being in Indianapolis?

I love going on walks on the canal. I also love to go to new coee shops and restaurants around the city.
