Three Purdue BME Alumni Honored as 38x38 Award Winners for Fall 2025

Krista O’Shaughnessey Toler, Keith Hansen MD and Brooke Beier—who have been named to Purdue Engineering’s prestigious 38x38 list for Fall 2025. This honor recognizes Purdue Engineering alumni under 38 years old who are already making waves across industries through innovation, leadership and impact.

Krista O’Shaughnessey Toler

Associate Director of Research and Development, Zimmer Biomet

A double Boilermaker with both undergraduate and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering, Krista O’Shaughnessey Toler leads innovation in musculoskeletal healthcare. As Associate Director of Research and Development at Zimmer Biomet, she works on developing cutting-edge orthopedic solutions that enhance patients’ quality of life. Krista is known for her collaborative leadership style, commitment to mentorship and dedication to advancing women in STEM.

Keith Hansen MD

Founder and CEO, Diatiro

Keith Hansen MD blends biomedical engineering and clinical expertise to address inefficiencies in healthcare. As founder and CEO of Diatiro, he is transforming how clinicians interact with medical records by developing AI-powered platforms that streamline workflows and improve communication. His work exemplifies how innovation at the intersection of medicine and technology can lead to more effective patient-centered care.

Brooke Beier

Senior Vice President, Purdue Innovates

A three-time graduate of Purdue’s biomedical engineering program, Brooke Beier serves as Senior Vice President of Purdue Innovates, the university’s hub for technology commercialization and entrepreneurship. Brooke plays a vital role in connecting Purdue’s world-class research with industry, helping faculty and student innovators turn ideas into startups, partnerships and patents. Her leadership continues to expand Purdue’s global impact through innovation.
