Purdue University juniors Deniz Eksioglu and Christina Sowinski have been offered 2025 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships.

The scholarship, established to encourage students to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, engineering and mathematics, is a major national recognition of academic excellence among top undergraduate researchers in the country.

For Eksioglu and Sowinski — both students in the John Martinson Honors College (JMHC) — this recognition marks a significant step in their academic careers and highlights their dedication to advancing knowledge and solving complex challenges. Eksioglu, in the College of Engineering, and Sowinski, in the College of Science, are each pursuing paths driven by curiosity, innovation and impact.

Both students received guidance and support from the National and International Scholarship Office (NISO), housed in the JMHC, which coordinates applications for prestigious scholarships. This office played an instrumental role in helping Sowinski and Eksioglu navigate the rigorous application process and gain recognition for their academic achievements.
