Research teams led by faculty at both the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Purdue University College of Engineering have been awarded pilot grants through the Engineering in Medicine pilot funding program to support joint research efforts as part of a growing ecosystem of collaboration and integration between the two schools.

The primary objective of these research collaborations is the development of novel technologies that will lead to innovative approaches and engineered systems for improved patient care.

The program is co-led by Tatiana Foroud, PhD, executive associate dean for research affairs, Distinguished Professor and August M. Watanabe Professor of Medical Research at the IU School of Medicine; Craig Goergen, PhD, co-director of the Purdue Engineering Initiative in Engineering-Medicine, Leslie A. Geddes Professor at Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering; and Julie Liu, PhD, co-director of the Purdue Engineering Initiative in Engineering-Medicine, University Faculty Scholar and associate professor at Purdue’s Davidson School of Chemical Engineering.
