Adam Wright, a PhD student in Yunjie Tong’s lab, recently accepted the Merit Award: Summa Cum Laude from the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) during their annual conference. He was given the award for being in the top 5% of abstracts based on his research regarding diffusion imaging and human glymphatics.

His abstract, which was published December 2023 in the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, was titled, “Exploring Radial Asymmetry in MR Diffusion Tensor Imaging and its Impact on the Interpretation of Glymphatic Mechanisms.”

Wright also published, “Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Cerebrospinal Fluid Dynamics: Current Techniques and Future Advancements,” in NMR in Biomedicine.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) helps clear metabolic waste from the brain, and it has complex circulation through various pathways and systems. Therefore, the noninvasive measurement of CSF dynamics poses many challenges for researchers. The research conducted by Wright and his team and published in NMR in Biomedicine delves into the established and emerging diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques designed for CSF measurements.
