Purdue’s Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center (RESEC) and the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA) will co-host the Engineering of Sport 14 conference June 6-9 at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Register now to attend.

With an agenda designed to engage sports engineers and other attendees in conversations about the current and future state of the sports engineering enterprise, the conference is targeted to a wide audience, including students, faculty, industry, fans and athletes. Participants will learn how industry, research, and athletes are working together to advance all areas of sport and about cutting-edge research in the field.

Planned topics include: equipment and apparel for performance and safety; data analytics and digital-enhancing technologies; coaching and education; and cycling technologies for virtual and live events. Conference themes — excitement, health, and integrity — reflect RESEC’s interest in pursuing research that impacts athletic performance, athlete safety, fan experience, and the optimization of data science and sports engineering.

Additional topics to be addressed: new digital tools in sports; new materials and design; e-sports and hybrid sports; new ideas in event design and values; use of data for athletes, audience, and event organizers; and globalization of teaching and training tools.

Stacey Burr, an entrepreneur and Wearables general manager, will host a panel discussion, “The Future of Sport? Merging the physical and digital.” Panelists include: Amanda Carlson-Phillips, senior vice president and head of performance at Exos; and Caleb Weinstein, founder-in-residence (sport focus) at Google’s Area 120.

Confirmed keynote presentations:

• Tom Waller, senior vice president of innovation, Adidas

• Michael Rogers, head of road & innovation, Union Cyclist Internationale (UCI)

• Johsan Billingham, research manager, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)
