Mortar Board is a national honor society for college seniors. Members are selected for their superior scholarship, dedicated service to the university community and outstanding and constant leadership.

As members of the Mortar Board Class of 2019, Rogers and Husain will help lead Purdue events such as Reading is Leading, Mortar Board Leadership Conference, Homecoming Tailgate, and Freshman Scholar Athlete Recognition. The organization also produces the popular annual calendar/planner used by many students around campus. The sale of roughly 30,000 calendars annually enables Mortar Board to grant numerous annual awards and scholarships to faculty, students, and staff who exemplify the Mortar Board pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service.

Membership in the Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board at Purdue is highly selective. There is no petition or application process. In a confidential nomination process, other student leaders and faculty members nominate juniors they feel are deserving of the honor of being involved in Mortar Board during their senior year. The current Mortar Board class then selects up to 40 new members based on these nominations.
