Bourland Travel Grant Recipients Selected

Suitcase
Three Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering students have been awarded Joe Bourland Travel Grants: TJ Puls, Julia Fraseur; and Shruthi Suresh. Dr. Joe Bourland established this competitive award to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies.

Puls attended the 2016 Engineering and Physical Sciences in Oncology meeting in Boston, MA; Fraseur will attend the AIChE Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, and Suresh will attend the RESNA/NCART 2016 Annual Conference in Arlington, VA.

Students benefit tremendously from attending conferences and presenting their work to peers and experts in their field.  Conferences also present an ideal networking opportunity for students to explore research collaborations, potential employment and broaden their knowledge base.

Dr. Bourland was one of the "Fab 4" to come to Purdue from Baylor University in 1974 (along with Dr. Les Geddes, Dr. Willis Tacker, and Dr. Charles Babbs) to form the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Research Center that eventually became the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
