HealthPartners surgeon David Dries, MD, named Master of Critical Care Medicine
MCCM is awarded to an individual who has been a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM) for at least five years and has distinguished him or herself by achieving national and international professional prominence through personal character, leadership, eminence in clinical practice, outstanding contributions to research and education in critical care medicine.
Dr. Dries joined HealthPartners in 1999. He is an assistant medical director for surgery in HealthPartners Medical Group, a professor of surgery, a professor of anesthesiology, a clinical adjunct professor of emergency medicine and the John F. Perry, Jr. endowed Chair of trauma surgery at the University of Minnesota. At Regions Hospital, Dr. Dries developed the complex abdomen program. He serves on multiple editorial boards including Shock, Critical Care Medicine, the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and the Journal of Burn Care and Research.
With nearly 16,000 members in more than 100 countries, SCCM is the only organization that represents all professional components of the critical care team.
Dr. Dries earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue in 1976.
