Bourland Travel Grants Distributed
Congratulations to Joyatee Sarker (mentor: Ann Rundell),who will use her award toward travel to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany.
Congratulations also to Yue Ren (mentor: Zheng Ouyang), who will use his award toward travel to the 62nd American Society for Mass Spectrometry Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Bourland established this award to provide support on a competitive basis to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies. Students benefit tremendously from attending conferences and presenting their work to peers and experts in their field. Conferences also present an ideal networking opportunity for students to explore research collaborations, potential employment and broaden their knowledge base.
Dr. Bourland was one of the "Fab 4" to come to Purdue from Baylor University in 1974 (along with Dr. Les Geddes, Dr. Willis Tacker, and Dr. Charles Babbs) to form the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Research Center that eventually became the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
