Leary Named SPIE Fellow

James F. Leary, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and SVM Professor of Nanomedicine, was elected as a 2012 SPIE Fellow, one of 75 new Fellows worldwide.

SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics. Dr. Leary was elected for achievements in high speed flow cytometry and nanomedicine. He received his award and plaque at the 2012 SPIE Photonics West Conference in San Francisco on January 23rd. There were more than 20,000 attendees from around the world at this conference.

Fellows are Members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics, and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement, for their service to the general optics community, and to SPIE in particular. There have been approximately 900 Fellows named worldwide since 1955.
