Faculty Awards Convocation Recognizes BME Faculty for Excellence

Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering faculty members were recently recognized at a faculty awards convocation for international and national awards, University and college honors, and also for years of service.

Yoon Yeo, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Industrial and Physical Pharmacy, received a National Science Foundation Early Career Award.

Michael Ladisch, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Agricultural and Biological Engineering, was named an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow.

Marshall Porterfield, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Agricultural and Biological Engineering, was named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Eugenio Culurciello, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

James Leary, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and SVM Professor of Nanomedicine was elected Fellow of the SPIE (the International Society for Photonics and Optics).

Ji-Xin Cheng, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry, and Preeti Sivasankar, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, were named University Faculty Scholars.

The following faculty were recognized for their years of service: Michael Ladisch (35 years), Richard Borgens (30 years), Mark Lawley and Riyi Shi (15 years), and Bill Chappell and Zheng Ouyang (10 years).
