Sean Connell, a BME graduate student, and Jianming Li, Weldon alum, both of Professor Riyi Shi's lab, represented their Biomedship spin-off company, Medtric Biotech in a recent business plan competition.

Sean & Ming's company, Medtric Biotech, won the Wake Forest Business Plan Competition and the end of March and received the $20,000 first place prize. To date, this student led venture has raised $115,000 in grants, seed investments and competition earnings. These funds continue to support their research and commercialization efforts.

Medtric was founded in 2010 on a vision to deliver clinically robust and economically sensible wound care solutions. Its founders include Sean (BSE, Biomedical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology and current Purdue PhD candidate), Jianming Li (BSE, University of Michigan, PhD, Biomedical Engineering, Purdue) and Robert Einterz, Jr. (BS, Chemistry and French, Hanover College, MBA, Purdue University). Medtric's core technologies were developed collaboratively and its flagship technology is OSMOSE - a novel technology for the prevention and treatment of infected wounds.
