Nimisha Bajaj Receives Flora Roberts Award
The Flora Roberts Award is presented annually to the graduating senior woman (either December, May or August) who has attained a minimum of a 3.0 graduation index and who exemplifies the best characteristics of the criteria for the award.
Other criteria to be considered for the award are: Scholarship (which can include measures beyond the required 3.0 graduation index, such as research, publications, etc.), leadership, service (to campus or community), and character. The recipient of this award receives a bronze-plated medal, a certificate, a check, and will have her name inscribed on the award marker located on the Purdue Mall. A committee composed of students and a representative of the Office of the Dean of Students select the recipients of the Flora Roberts Award from the nominations submitted by faculty and staff.
Bajaj served as president of Purdue's Chapter of Engineering World Health that has created a medical device equipment repair team that refurbishes equipment to be donated to underserved regions. Bajaj traveled to Central America as a member or Raising Aim to volunteer in a free clinic and has led a service trip to New Orleans to provide hurricane relief. She also has been involved in research to improve drug-delivery systems for cystic fibrosis drugs.
