In his nomination, Dr. Brightman was cited for his preparations for the ABET site visit, which resulted in the biomedical engineering program being accredited on its first attempt, and his unique abilities to effectively interface and address the needs of an extremely diverse group of individuals including pre-college students and their parents, undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and university administrators. He serves as a role model, guide and mentor to his staff and is an excellent supervisor in that he remains accessible and concerned about the staff's well-being. Dr. Brightman recently celebrated his 15 year service anniversary with the university.
