Purdue Research Foundation Recognizes BME Inventors

Thirty-two Purdue University faculty and staff were recognized at the Purdue Research Foundation's seventh annual Inventors Recognition Dinner last month.

The event highlighted the accomplishments of university faculty and staff whose discoveries already have, or may soon result in commercial applications taken to the marketplace. PRF officials reported 200 invention disclosures and 33 issued patents in the fiscal year 2008-2009. Seven new companies were formed from Purdue-licensed technologies during the same time period.

BME-related honorees included: Charles Bouman, Michael J. and Katherin R. Birck Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering; Michael Ladisch, Distinguished Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Biomedical Engineering; James Leary, SVM Professor of Nanomedicine and Professor of Biomedical Engineering; and Kinam Park, Showalter Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Professor of Pharmaceutics, who were all awarded patents during the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
