Professor Michael R. Ladisch elected to membership in NAE

Professor Michael R. Ladisch was inducted into membership in the National Acad emy of Engineering (NAE) on October 3, 1999, in Washington, DC. Professor Lad isch was recognized for developing and scaling-up new approaches and materials for process chromatography, absorptive bioseparations, and biocatalysis.

Election to NAE membership is one of the highest professional distinctions an engineer can receive, honoring those who have made "important contributions t o engineering theory and practice, including significant contributions to the literature of engineering", and those who have demonstrated "unusual accomplis hments in the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology". Members are peer-elected.

The NAE is a private, independent, nonprofit institution that advises the fede ral government, and also conducts independent studies that examine some of the most important contemporary topics in engineering and technology.
