BSAAE 2005

My journey from a curious student to an engineer with a proven track record has been shaped by professors who challenged me, mentors who guided me, teammates who pushed for excellence, and family who encouraged me. This award belongs to all of them as much as it does to me.

Lisa Fahl's career at Boeing reflects a deep commitment to technical excellence, product safety, and team development. She currently oversees engineering teams responsible for product definition, production system efficiency, and fleet safety and reliability across the 787 program.

Her prior roles include Vice President of Airplane Programs Engineering, supporting the 737, 767, 777, and 787; and Vice President of Total Quality, where she strengthened Boeing’s quality management system through enhanced conformance, process discipline, and cross-functional alignment.

Fahl spearheaded strategic initiatives in production system controls and design practices that materially strengthened production stability, quality, and safety. Her efforts reduced rework and improved first-time quality, reinforced schedule discipline, and tightened safety controls across aircraft assembly. She also galvanized the engineering community to converge on the most innovative solutions and expedited their adoption throughout Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Fahl attributes her engineering mindset to formative academic mentorship and maintains strong engagement with universities through recruiting, outreach, and experiential learning initiatives. Among her most meaningful career moments was witnessing the 787’s first flight after years of structural engineering contributions—a powerful reminder of the impact of her work.

Across her roles, Fahl is equally celebrated for developing future engineering leaders, expanding technical career pathways, and fostering inclusive, high-performing teams.
