"The climate of intellectual curiosity I was immersed in during my undergraduate work at Purdue and graduate work at Stanford, and the stature of the professionals to whom I was exposed, have provided the model and stimulus for my own career. My choice of an academic career was the correct one and has led to a life of great flexibility, excitement and satisfaction."

Walter Eversman received his BSAE from Purdue in 1959, followed by an MS in Engineering Mechanics and PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford in 1961 and 1964, respectively. He currently serves as the Curators' Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Outside of academia, Eversman has worked for the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Boeing-Wichita and Boeing-Seattle, and GM/AC/Delphi. His primary research interests include aircraft turbofan engine noise generation and propagation, automotive engine noise control, and aircraft flutter and vibration, among others.

Eversman has been active in the AIAA, serving as general chair of the 8th Aeroacoustics Conference in 1983 and chair of Aeroacoustics TC from 1983–1985. He has also served in ASME as vice chair of the Noise Control and Acoustics Committee from 1989–1990 and 1991–1992, and as chair of NCA TC from 1990–1991 and 1992–1993. Eversman is internationally recognized for theoretical and numerical contributions in duct acoustics, vibrations, and aeroelasticity. He has more than 160 publications in refereed journals, refereed conference papers, and presentations. Eversman has been a consultant to numerous industry and government organizations and in 2008 was the recipient of the AIAA Aeroacoustics Award.
