Safety Information

  • Colloidal silica is a skin irritant and gloves are recommended
  • Avoid inhalation of dry silica powder

 

Training and Lab Requirements

User Requirements

  • Valid iLab account (scheduling only, not billed)
  • Subscription to the equipment listserv (mailing list) is required before access will be granted
  • Training by department lab staff/superuser

Specimen and Equipment Requirements

  • Compatible with 1" and 1.25" diameter mounts (3 specimen holders for each)
  • Flat, unmounted samples can be polished with some modificiations to the mounting procedure
