Research Interests

Our research aims to understand fundamental light-matter interactions and opto-thermo-matter interactions at the nanoscale and develop advanced laser processing and characterization tools for applications in photonic materials, electronics and optoelectronics, nanotechnology, and biomedical diagnosis. In addition to elucidating photophysical and photothermal processes, we also look to design, optimize, and probe functional nanostructured materials with new optical, electronic, and thermal properties. Specific projects include optical trapping and manipulation of nanomaterials, optical spectroscopy and sensing, and probing nanoscale materials and devices with high spatiotemporal resolutions.
