Kudos to Dr. Amey Luktuke who has successful defended his PhD thesis! Working under Professor Nikhilesh Chawla, Amey’s research focused on understanding the effect of alloying elements such as Indium and Bismuth on the microstructural evolution of Sn-rich solder alloys during reflow used in advanced electronic packaging. He used advanced characterization techniques such as 4D synchrotron X-ray tomography along with electron microscopy methods to probe fundamental solidification mechanisms determining the microstructure formation. Dr. Luktuke has accepted a post-doctorate position at Argonne National Laboratory.
