Currently used primary explosives regularly rely on toxic lead-containing materials. In this work MSE professor, Davin Piercey and his research group at Purdue University, in collaboration with the Army Research Laboratory, developed two lead-free primary explosives that are possible environmentally-friendly materials to replace lead containing compounds.
