EEE Ambassador Application - Due 9/19/22

Calling all enthusiastic EEE students!!!  Are you interested in promoting the EEE program to future students?  Complete the EEE Ambassador Application at https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d51KJQglVV3VsUK by 9AM Monday, September 19. You must be officially in EEE to be eligible to apply.

Tammi Thayer will hold a formal training session later in September for those selected.  Why Training?
EEE Ambassadors will be asked to represent EEE and help with many different types of outreach activities.  This session will help these leaders become more comfortable with:
  • promoting the EEE degree program
  • delivering accurate and concise answers to common questions
  • giving facts about job prospects and salary averages for EEE graduates
  • discussing common career pathways for EEE
  • conveying the differences between EEE and other majors in a positive way
  • communicating with families/students in a professional way

Basic Training for Engineering Leaders, Volunteers, and Ambassadors

David Bowker, Director of Office of Future Engineers, will host a general training for all student leaders/volunteers on Thursday, September 15 from 10:30-11:20 a.m. and Tuesday, September 20 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. It is highly recommended for EEE students who wish to participate in EEE Ambassadors, as well as SEEE, PSEF, Purdue Student Sustainability Council, SWE, etc.  These identical sessions will include an overview of best practices for being an excellent representative of the College of Engineering, as well as recent updates regarding applications, admissions, and CoE programs.  OFE has offered these sessions in the past and they are meant to complement other major-specific training that students may receive within their school/division. It is great for any student leader of groups that meet with future students. Big picture on being great representative of CoE, how to connect with families, etc.

Students interested in attending one of the training sessions should sign up for their desired date here.

FE Exam Information for EEE Seniors

The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is the first step in the process leading to the PE license. It is designed for students close to finishing their engineering degree or recent graduates. The FE exam is administered by NCEES (National Council of Examiners for engineering and Surveying).  Learn more about professional licensure at here

The EEE FE Exam Reimbursement Program is meant to encourage and support EEE students to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam during their time at Purdue. It offers 100% reimbursement with a passing score and 50% reimbursement for a failing score on the FE. Once the student takes the FE, they are to provide proof of their test date and score along with an itemized receipt to Dr. Robinson, nlrobins@purdue.edu. The deadline for a reimbursement request is last day of classes (Friday before finals week) in the semester that you will graduate with the BSEEE. Only one reimbursement per student will be allowed.

LEED Green Associate (GA) Training

EEE students should understand that LEED is one professional certification. Earning a PE license in engineering requires considerably more education, knowledge and experience, and all EEE graduates are qualified to eventually earn a PE license, which is significantly more valuable. On occasion, an EEE student will ask about LEED.  LEED is more within the domain of the Arch Engr group within Civil.  The LEED Green Associate (GA) credential is the only entry level sustainability designation and shows employers and clients that you have certified knowledge in the green building industry. Most people can take a short course and pass the LEED certification test. As a courtesy, the following info is being provided.  It is not required or necessarily endorsed.  Contact info@leadinggreen.com if you have questions. See fees and Register for a live webinar or the on-demand recorded workshop completed anytime at your own pace at https://leadinggreen.com/online

BoilerBot to Help Resolve BoilerKey Passcode Issues

A new chatbox feature available on the ITaP webpage is designed to help you quickly resolve passcode issues you may have with BoilerKey two-factor authentication.

Dubbed “BoilerBot,” the new feature will help faculty, staff, and students who are unable to access the services protected by BoilerKey because they have lost access to their phone, or because they have not set up self-recovery. By automating the BoilerKey passcode reset process, ITaP hopes to both speed up the time it takes to resolve individual BoilerKey issues as well as reduce the wait time for others contacting the Customer Service Center seeking help.  Learn more at https://itap.purdue.edu/newsroom/articles/220822-boilerbot.html
