Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

Why should I take the FE Exam?

A subset of ECE students find it important to their professional interests to take the FE exam, which is an important step in the path to becoming a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Some jobs/career-paths require the PE license for eligibility.

When should I take the FE Exam?

To support such students in their chosen career path, the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering will reimburse the entire FE exam fee if you pass the exam before graduating from Purdue ECE. The date of exam must be prior to your graduation date. Even if you fail the exam, the school will reimburse 50% of your exam fee. You can only be reimbursed once.

Please email the following two pieces of information to the ECE Business Office (ecebo@purdue.edu):
  1. A link to the verifiable results on ncees.org
    1. If the link shows you passed the exam, you will get a full reimbursement in the amount of $225 which is the exam fee. Please note that ECE will not reimburse the cost of the practice exam.
    2. If the link shows that you did not pass the exam, you will get a partial reimbursement in the amount of $112.50 (50% of the exam fee).
  2. An electronic copy of the receipt that shows the exam fee ($225) was paid.
