Summer internship at Samsung Austin Research Center

Position Summary:                                 

The Samsung Austin R&D Center (SARC) has a charter to develop the highest performing power-efficient CPUs and GPUs. Key to achieving this goal is a highly skilled CAD and design methodology team that facilitates design with state of the art tools targeting the complete range of flows from custom to synthesis based. SARC is a driver of high performance custom circuit design flows within Samsung and is in the process of creating flows and methodologies for current and future process nodes. The CAD and methodology team is looking for a talented intern for a term of 3 months who will work closely with senior CAD engineers to setup  automated simulation infrastructure used for driving methodology decisions for a wide breadth of tools.

Common Essential Duties & Resp.:

--Develop automated simulation infrastructure to determine process and methodology related rules for a breadth of tools ranging from full custom to synthesis.

--Design automation to improve engineering productivity

--Other responsibilites may include a subset of the following,

     * Develop scripts in perl/tcl or other scripting languages

     * CAD tools for custom circuit design including but not limited to timing analysis, glitch noise analysis, electromigration and IR drop analysis.

     * CAD tools for synthesis based flows including but not limited to synthesis, floorplanning, placement and routing.

Background / Experience

--Coursework relevant to digital design and methodology

--Good understanding of basic CMOS circuits, device theory and dynamic circuit simulation.

--Knowledge of deep submicron process and circuit design issues, design for manufacturability, and reliability issues

--Experience in using industry standard tools for schematic capture, simulation, verification, etc.

--Basics of power estimation and analysis concepts.

--Knowledge of deep submicron process and circuit design issues, design for manufacturability, and reliability issues

--Familiarity with VLSI and/or high speed design flows such as synthesis, timing analysis, floor planning, and physical verification

--Scripting skills (Perl, Tcl).

--Programming knowledge a plus.
