Good afternoon!!! The Minority Engineering Program (MEP) is currently looking for undergraduates and graduate students for summer employment. Please find details below.

We are primarily looking for Co-Wokshop coordinators ( Graduate Students), Tutors,Female counselors and Program Assistants. We will appreciate if you send this to students that may be interested in summer employment. Please find job descriptions attached to this email.

Summer Internships & Staff 

 

Do you like working with students and sharing your knowledge about engineering?  Do you want to enhance your communication and leadership skills? The MEP Summer Internship Program serves to develop strong leadership and communication skills through training and mentorship while engaging with 6th-12th graders from across the country.

 

Applications

 

Thank you for your interest in summer employment with the Minority Engineering Program! The MEP Summer Engineering Workshops 2015 will begin on Sunday, June 14th, 2015 and will conclude on Saturday, August 8th, 2015. During this time, our office offers a series of programs for 6th -12th grade students with diverse backgrounds from all over the United States and other countries. 

 

An initial training (mandatory) will be scheduled towards the end of the Spring 2015 semester in addition to a more intensive training the week prior to the camps June 8th - 12th.  Your responsibilities as summer staff member will begin on June 8 and counselors will be able to move in June 7.

Summer Engineering Workshop Staff Roles and Responsibilities

  •  Lead Instructor (Graduate Students Only)
  • Course Instructor (Graduate Students Only) -MATLAB, CHEM 115, MA 161 and PHYS 172. 
  • Co-Workshop Coordinators (Graduate Students Only) 
  • Head Counselor (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
  • Counselor (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
  • Project Manager (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
  • Project Assistant (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
  • Office Assistant (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
  • Tutors (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)- MATLAB, CHEM 115, MA 161 and PHYS 172. 

 

We will work with you to scope time commitments based on other summer obligations such as classes, research, and other responsibilities. Typically Program Assistant will allow the most flexible schedule and a variable time commitment can be proposed for a daily schedule. Counselors will have their weekdays generally free and be on duty from 7pm - 8am with the expectation of attending lunch and dinner as schedules allow. All other positions can expect a commitment of about 3 - 6 hrs a day that will vary across the summer schedule depending on the particular program and position. The application allows you to indicate anytime you will be unavailable during this period (e.g. wedding, conference).

 

For undergraduate students, if you are planning to take courses, we require that you only be registered for 1 course per summer session to ensure you excel in your academics to be eligible for a position. We would welcome your help as a volunteer otherwise!

 

If you are accepted for the position it is your responsibility to fulfill each role to the best of your abilities. ALL roles will also be responsible assisting with program execution, enforcing the discipline policy and all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
