Northrop Grumman Future Technical Leaders (FTL) Program
	Greetings!
My name is Cliff Frieler and I have been an Engineer/Scientist at Northrop
Grumman Corporation for almost three decades and a recruiter for a strategic
talent program for a decade. This is my third year coming to Purdue in the
fall and I am very excited.

The small program I interview for is called the "Future Technical Leaders" or FTL
program. It is a three year rotational program for top MS and PhD new-hires
from a select group of universities who are interested in seeing the range of
product lines, business areas and customer groups a large company like NGC
engages. In October, we will invite roughly 50 candidates from across the country
to an interview week in San Diego, and I would like to make sure that the best
	from Purdue are included.

We are interested in students in any of the physical sciences, math or engineering
disciplines, as FTL program participants are involved in projects throughout the
company. In addition to CyberSecurity work for several customers, we have projects
that would interest students in BioInformatics, many projects in large data analytics,
information systems infrastructure for many government agencies (e.g., SSA,
VA Hospitals, CDC, state and local governments), and a research group pursuing
superconducting circuit design and related technologies in the Baltimore area.
And, of course, there are the better known  business areas, such as satellite sensing
systems, UAVs, Army vehicles and Naval network and communications, as well as
two very large programs that are the land and air based components of our strategic
deterrent triad – the manned aircraft program we won recently, and the next phase
of the missile component update competition we won.  Across this broad landscape
of activity, we employ the gamut of science and engineering practices.

Notwithstanding this broad range of directly applicable skills, the FTL program is a
strategic hiring program and we hire the intellect, not the specific skill set.  We are
looking for sharp, inquisitive minds with a deep technical background, ready to
broaden themselves and their perspective, particularly those with demonstrated
	leadership capability.

	There are a few requirements to be considered;
	               U.S. Citizenship
MS or PhD graduating by June 2019.
3.5/4.0 GPA, both UG and Grad.

	I will present an Info Session next Friday evening;
	               Where:    Wetherill   (WTHR)   160
	               Date:       Friday, September 14th
	   Time:       5:00-7:00PM

I hope that all interested and qualified candidates can attend, but invite those
who can’t to contact me directly. I would be happy to explain the program
and answer questions individually. I will be on campus the following week
scheduling interviews and meeting with people, and if sufficient interest exists,
	might give another Info Session.
Best of Luck in the remainder of your academic career, and in your Career Search!
