New Course: Teaching Engineering Online (ENE 59500-002)
New Course: Teaching Engineering Online (ENE 59500-002)
This course is designed for anyone who wants to be prepared to teach engineering or other technical topics online. The course has three modules. The first module introduces five important features of an online course: effective course content design, methods for keeping students engaged, use of the course platform and interactive materials, accessibility of course materials, and assessment of student learning and of the instructional unit itself. In Module Two, each student will design a short instructional unit on a topic of their choice that could be included in what would typically be a “lecture” course for an audience that the student expects to teach. Each week, students will receive guidance on incorporating one of the five features discussed in Module One into their unit. Module Three is similar to Module Two, but students will prepare an instructional unit that could be incorporated into a “laboratory” course.
