Job Announcement: Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering (AA9769) in the University of Washington Bothell
The Division of Engineering and Mathematics in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications for one tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a nine-month academic year appointment beginning September 16, 2015. All University faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include teaching, research and service. A commitment to excellence in teaching and enhancing learning opportunities for diverse populations is essential. Instructional responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering. A successful candidate will contribute to teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses. An active research program in the areas of power systems or bioelectronics or associated areas is essential. Mentoring undergraduate students is highly valued. Establishing working relationships with local high-tech companies and with the other UW campuses in Seattle and Tacoma is expected. Service includes division, school, and university committee work, and participation in professional organizations both locally and nationally.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D in electrical engineering or related fields, or foreign equivalent, by the date of hire.
- Experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students in electrical engineering.
- Demonstration of an active research program in power systems, clean energy, bioelectronic or associated areas.
- Demonstration of a plan for establishing a funded research program in power systems, clean energy or bioelectronics that is amenable to undergraduate and MSEE students.
