Job Summary
The Research Engineer will conduct CERIAS cyber (IT) and cyber-physical (OT) security, resiliency, privacy autonomy, and/or trusted systems research. This position will help define and address cybersecurity-related R&D for CERIAS strategic partners and government funding agencies. The individual in this role will also be responsible for assisting in developing and implementing a new cybersecurity laboratory being deployed at Purdue University. 
 
The Research Engineer will be expected to understand how current and future technology can fit into the evolving cybersecurity landscape and help develop strategies for future directions of development, capabilities, and cybersecurity risk management or policies. The position will routinely work to support existing research on information technology security (including cybersecurity management and policy). Possible other work could include cyber-embedded systems (cyber-physical security).
 
Additionally, the position will require assisting in the development of grant proposals and working with students and faculties for peer-reviewed publications.
 
Required:
  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, cybersecurity, or other computing-oriented fields 
  • Two (2) years of successful R&D experience 
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated R&D skills within cyber or cyber-physical software, hardware, or ICS
  • Ability to supervise student researchers and evaluate their R&D output
  • Ability to manage project(s) according to required timelines and budget constraints
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other employees toward shared goals/success
  • Strong analytical skills
Preferred:
Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or other engineering domain with cybersecurity-related experience
