POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment starting as early as Fall 2021 at the rank of Assistant Professor in all fields of electrical engineering. The ECE department has recently relocated to a brand new building, Hopper Hall. The building, named after Grace Hopper, a pioneering computer scientist and U.S. Navy rear admiral, houses state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, including an anechoic chamber and a cleanroom. USNA is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse faculty committed to teaching and working in a diverse environment, and strongly encourages applications from women, members of underrepresented groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

 

Successful candidates will have expertise in a conventional electrical engineering field, such as communications, control systems, electronic materials & devices, photonics & optics, power & energy, RF & microwave, and signal processing & data science, or in interdisciplinary fields, such as quantum engineering, electronic warfare, machine learning, and advanced manufacturing technologies. They will develop a robust research program and mentor students. They will teach existing electrical engineering undergraduate courses, as well as develop new courses in line with their professional research. They will have a commitment to institutional service.

 

This is a 10-month federal excepted service position with a three year initial academic appointment.  Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
