Posting Title: III-V Materials and Device Postdoctoral Researcher (R6021)
Location: CO - Golden
Position Type: Postdoc (Fixed Term), Full Time
Hours Per Week: 40

Job Description
The employee will develop III-V materials and devices, including solar cells, using epitaxial growth techniques and perform extensive characterization and analysis of the resulting materials and devices.

Primary duties involve the development of state-of-the-art III-V (GaAs and related alloys) materials and devices, including solar cells. The work will involve using growth capabilities such as hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) and metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) to understand and improve III-V materials and devices; study the growth of high-quality III-V materials and interfaces; perform material and device processing and characterization; design devices and analyze their performance; and produce experimental and theoretical understanding of growth mechanisms. The work will lead to significant additions to the knowledge base of materials and device science and to the dissemination of that work through journal publications.

Basic Qualifications
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with experience in the growth, characterization, and/or processing of materials, and/or experience with optoelectronic devices or epitaxy.  Qualified candidates must demonstrate skill in interpreting and assessing the experimental results of their own work and that of others and demonstrated a record of success from graduate and/or post-graduate work in this area.
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Teamwork and collaboration define the modern scientific approach, and the Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to collaborate, be open to new ideas, and recognize the contribution of others.
  • Inclusion and diversity are core values, and the Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to support a work environment that maximizes the unique talents and innovative ideas of every employee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the growth, characterization, and/or processing of III-V materials and devices.
  • Experience in characterizing semiconductor materials and devices using, for example, x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, luminescence techniques, or device-specific characterization.
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamic, thermodynamic, or kinetic modeling.
  • Strong publication record.
  • All candidates will be considered whether or not they meet all preferred requirements.
