Professor Beaudoin Receives Mentoring Award

Professor Stephen P. Beaudoin was selected to receive a 2015 College of Engineering Faculty Award of Excellence in mentoring.

Professor Stephen P. Beaudoin was recently selected to receive a 2015 College of Engineering Faculty Award of Excellence in mentoring. He will be recognized during the CoE Faculty Awards Banquet o April 10, 2015.

The CoE Faculty Award of Excellence in mentoring recognizes excellence by faculty in the College of Engineering in the mentoring of graduate students, post doctorate staff or junior faculty. Professor Beaudoin mentors eight graduate students in addition to his administrative and teaching work.

Professor Beaudoin received a PhD from North Carolina State University in 1995. He joined the faculty at Purdue in 2003 and was promoted to Professor in 2006. He served the School of Chemical Engineering for two years as Associate Head and then as Director of Undergraduate Studies prior to accepting the position of Provost Fellow for Student Access and Success. Now he is the Interim Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Professor Beaudoin won the Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation, and was named a University Faculty Scholar at Purdue. He has won numerous teaching and mentoring awards, including being the inaugural recipient of the Purdue University Student Government Teaching Excellence Award.

Dr. Beaudoin’s areas of research interest are focused on particle and thin film adhesion. His work finds applications in microelectronics and pharmaceutical manufacturing, in airport security, in biosensors, and in food processing.
