Elcin Icten Honored by Women in Hi Tech Group

Elcin Icten, a Ph.D. student in School of Chemical Engineering, received a scholarship from Women in Hi Tech.

Elcin Icten, a Ph.D. student from Istanbul, Turkey, recently received a Women & HiTech Scholarship as part of Leading Light Awards given by the Women & HiTech group of central Indiana.

Elcin was honored at an awards program on October 1 and received a $5,000 scholarship because of her outstanding academic and career achievements and her participation in campus organizations. The Women & Hi Tech Scholarships are open to women pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in science, technology or engineering.

Elcin is co-advised by Professors Zoltan Nagy and Gintaras Reklaitis. Her research involves developing a Drop-on-Demand Manufacturing System for the production of pharmaceutical dosage forms and a process control framework for this system to assure critical quality attributes of the dosage forms.

Women and Hi Tech is a non-profit organization created to address the specific needs of women in high tech industries in central Indiana and to encourage more women to consider careers in technology.
