EEE Awards

Each year, EEE bestows two awards, the Environmental and Ecological Engineering Outstanding Senior Award and the SEEE Instructional Excellence Award. In addition to these two awards, two of the EEE graduate students have been honored with the Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon Award, the Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award, and induction into the Purdue University Teaching Academy.

The Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering bestows two awards at the end of each academic year. One award is the Environmental and Ecological Engineering Outstanding Senior Award which recognizes academic achievement, leadership, service, and professional activities. The second award, the SEEE Instructional Excellence Award, is coordinated by Purdue's Society of Environmental and Ecological Engineers (SEEE) and is selected by the EEE students. This award honors one EEE faculty member for his or her exceptional teaching and dedication to EEE students. Last year's winners were Dianne Kaminsky and Dr. Loring (Larry) Nies. At the 2014 Commencement Reception, Shelley Koehn accepted the EEE Outstanding Senior Award and Dr. Chad Jafvert received the SEEE Instructional Excellence Award.

We would love to establish additional recognitions for EEE students. That way, student contributions in the areas of senior design, leadership, service, academic distinction, etc. could be honored. If you are interested in supporting an award, please let us know at EEE@purdue.edu.

In addition to the awards given by EEE, two graduate teaching assistants have been honored this year. Mahdieh Aghazadeh received the Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon Award from the College of Engineering. Mahdieh is the TA for EEE 25000 taught by Dr. Abigail Engelberth. Lindsey Payne received the Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award from the Center for Instructional Excellence and was inducted into the Purdue University Teaching Academy. Lindsey is the TA for CE/EEE 35500 taught by Dr. Loring (Larry) Nies and also teaches EEE 49500, Urban Water Projects.
