iPhone Setup for Exchange Users

Here's how to configure an Apple iPhone for a mailbox on the ITaP Exchange server. For an ECN mailbox instead of an Exchange mailbox, see iPhone Setup for ECN Users.

These instructions were written using iPhone software version 2.2.1. To determine which version you're using, launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Then click "General" and "About."  Look for the version number on that screen. To get the latest iPhone software, connect your iPhone to your computer. Download and install the latest version from within iTunes.

iPhone software version 3.0 is expected to become available on or after June 17, 2009. These instructions will be updated for version 3.0 later.

1. Getting the Right Time.

Do these steps on your computer.

ITaP has posted instructions for setting your iPhone's time zone to Indianapolis. It's helpful to view the directions on a computer while you're working with the iPhone itself.

1A. View ITaP's instructions here:

http://dcstoday.itap.purdue.edu/iphone/Start.html

1B. Follow the instructions as written -- except do not follow the "Setup" link at the very bottom of the ITaP page.

2. Complete Enterprise Configuration.

Do these steps on your iPhone.

2A. Launch the Safari app.

2B. In the address field, type the following address:

dcstoday.itap.purdue.edu/iphone/Setup.html

2C. Then click on the "Go" icon.

2D. Click the link for "complete Enterprise Configuration (PAL2.0, VPN, Exchange).

2E. Follow the on-screen instructions.  You'll be asked at various points for your Purdue Career Account username and password.

Supplemental instructions for connecting to ITaP Exchange are being written and will be posted here; this document is an incomplete draft.
