Windows Printing: Add a Departmental Printing Code
Adding a Departmental Printing Code:
Some printers require a departmental printing code in order to properly print. This code is unique to the individual and is usually assigned by the area administrative assistant. If you do not have your code, please talk to the administrative staff in your area to find out who can provide you with this information.
You can follow these steps once you have your code and are ready to provide it to the printer:
Windows 7:
1) Open the Start Menu and click "Devices and Printers."
2) Right-click on your printer and choose "Printer Preferences."
3) Click on the "Others" tab across the top
4) Input your printing code in the "Department Code" field
5) Click "OK" and print a test page just to make sure that everything is working
Windows 10:
1) Right-click on the Start Menu icon and click "Settings"
2) Click "Devices"
3) Click "Printers & scanners" in the left hand menu
4) Single left-click the printer you would like to add a print code to and select "Manage"
5) Left-click on "Printer Preferences"
6) Click on the "Others" tab across the top
7) Input your printing code in the "Department Code" field
8) Click "OK" and print a test page just to make sure that everything is working
