Windows 7 Printing to ITaP Printers

Printing to ITaP network printer resources from Engineering Workstations will require a change (from Windows XP) in how you pass your credentials.

Here are instructions on how to set up your account to print to network printers on the ITaP printserver(s).

1.     Before you add the network printer, open a Command Prompt window, and type the following at the command prompt and enter the appropriate credentials in the authentication window:

start \\<servername>\<printername>

Note: In this command, <servername> represents the name of the print server and <printername> represents the share name of the printer.

         (i.e. - \\printers.ics.purdue.edu\armsb098)

Do not enter your credentials in the Pop-up Dialog box.

2.     Store a trusted credential in Credential Manager. To do this, follow these steps:

1)      In Control Panel, open Credential Manager.

2)      Click Add a Windows credential.

3)      In the dialog box, enter an appropriate print server name (i.e. printers.ics.purdue.edu). Then, enter your onepurdue user name (onepurdue\your_login_name) and password, that are trusted on the ITaP print server.

4)      Click OK.

Note: Currently we do not have confirmation that the ITaP printserver has been upgraded to support the 64-bit Windows 7 OS currently installed on ECN Workstations.  This Note will be clarified as information becomes available.
