Siemens SinuTrain

Siemens SinuTrain sometimes gives an error message when launched and a machine other than the provided templaes are used.  The message may be something like the following:

SinuTrain for SINUMERIK Operate
---------------------------
The selected machine configuration cannot be used at the moment. 
Please re-register the current user and start the computer again. 
Please contact the Siemens Hotline if this state occurs once more.
 
Below is a list of suggestions of things a person can try to fix the problem.
 

SinuTrain

First, try launching just "SinuTrain" and start the specific machine.
 

SinuTrain with Procmon

Some have found that launching the Sysinternals product Procmon first improves success using SinuTrain.  There should be a shortcut in the start menu labeled "SinuTrain with Procmon" which does that for you.
 

Reset SinuTrain Settings

The settings for SinuTrain can be reset by renaming the folder "C:\Users\<username>\appdata\Siemens\SinuTrain".
-First, launch Windows Explorer (hold down Windows key and press the letter E)
-Type in "%appdata%\Siemens" in the address bar (without quotes)
-Scroll down and look for the folder SinuTrain.  Right-mouse click and select "Rename" (or press F2 key) and add a dash at the beginning or end of the folder name and press Enter
-Relaunch SinuTrain
-Any machines that had been imported will need to be re-imported
 

Delete Temporary Folder

The following folder can also be deleted

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Siemens\sinutrainoperate

Reboot the computer

One of the error messages mentions restarting the computer.  If so, reboot the computer, log back in, and try SinuTrain again.

Verify license server

The other error specifically mentions the license.  In that case launch "Automation License Manager" and verify that the server entry has a star next to it.  If it does not, right-mouse click the entry and check both options "Always display in navigation window" and "Add to search list".  You can also try adding the same server and replace "ecn.purdue.edu" with "boilerad.purdue.edu" or vice versa.
 

Try a different computer

The last option would be to try SinuTrain on a different computer.
