R4P Process Details

Request for Privileges (R4P) Process

A person's supervisor or a Business Office reprsentative can help fill out the Request for Privileges, in order for the the Business Office to successfully complete the R4P, the Business Office will need the person’s full name, work address, and a work email address. Possibly a date of birth (for disambiguation purposes). A Social Security number is NOT required for a Non-Employee or vendor. SSN IS REQUIRED for any paid position (paid directly by Purdue, not through a 3rd party).

The Business Office will have to fill out a form called a Request For Privileges (acronym R4P) for this person (https://www.purdue.edu/apps/account/r4p).

The specific choice needed there would be a Non-Employee (this choice triggers the “no SSN needed” option), future employee (Needs SSN), etc.

Once this is approved, one of (requestor or Business Office) will need to let ECN know that the account is now present in the Purdue Directory: https://directory.purdue.edu

Please let us know by using http://www.purdue.edu/ecn/contactus - provide the assigned career account login.

Note:

  • IT Staff (ECN, in this case) will NOT know that this account has been created – someone will have to tell us.
  • Once we know the account is ready, we will set up the email, and will be able to ask for additional licenses to be applied to the account as needed and requested.
  • Each step in this process takes an overnight run, so the quickest this can happen is over 2 business days. It has been taking longer in the last few months, due to increased workloads and staffing issues at each office involved.
