Need a clock in X Windows?

Purdue Engineering Computer Network
The standard X distribution comes with two standard Unix clock applications: xclock and oclock.

The xclock program displays the time in analog or digital form. By default it shows an analog clock in a square window. The time is continuously updated at a frequency which may be specified by the user. To use it, type

	xclock &
The two useful options to use with xclock are -digital (or -d) which indicates that a 24 hour digital clock should be used and -chime which indicates that the clock should chime once on the half hour and twice on the hour.

The oclock program is a round clock which displays the current time on an anlog display. Many users like the -transparent option which causes the clock to consist only of the jewel, the hands and the border. To use it, type

	oclock &
These are the only two clock programs available at ECN. For more information on these programs type:

man xclock or
man oclock
