GPG: Just Enough GPG/PGP to Read an Encrypted Message
ECN Windows 2000 Platform
- Generate your PGP key
- Start -> Programs -> ECN Software -> PGP -> PGPKeys
- Under the "Keys" menu, select "New Key"
- Click "Next"
- Fill-in your full name and e-mail address and click "Next"
- Accept the default key type (Diffie-Hellman/DSS) and click "Next"
- Accept the default key length (2048 bits) and click "Next"
- Accept the default key expiration (never) and click "Next"
- Provide a passphrase to protect your private key and click "Next"
- Click "Next" after your key has been created
- Accept the default of not sending the key to a server by clicking "Next"
- Click "Finish"
- Store your public key in /ftp/keys
- Right-click on the boldface line on your new key and select "Export"
- Save your key to your N: drive root. The preferred naming convention is .asc
- Log into your homeserver.
- Use the dos2unix command on your key file to convert it to UNIX format.
- Copy your newly converted key file into the /ftp/keys directory, making sure UNIX permissions are set such that others can read your file.
- Add the PGP/GPG keys for Cathy Kozlowski and Dave Carmichael to your keyring
- From UNIX, copy the keys for Cathy and Dave from /ftp/keys to your account
- Under the "Keys" menu in the PGPkeys program, select "Import"
- Navigate to the location used to store Cathy's key and double-click on it
- Select "Import"
- Repeat steps 2-4 for Dave's key
