Abstract
Software Engineering is one of the topics poised to play a pivotal role in the continuous Computer Science evolution. In this presentation, Dr. Morgan covers aspects of interest in the formation of a Software Engineering curriculum on both undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Morgan then dives into the algorithmic analysis of the Spanning Trees. The Spanning Trees algorithm has fed many of the popular applications in our modern life including network routing and travel navigation methods, yet the core of Spanning Trees can be understood with simple representation following Graph Theory.
In this 45-50-minute presentation, Dr. Morgan, the founder of BRiC Laboratories in Canada, offers his experience in presenting Software Engineering in a way that serves many disciplines beyond the typical and direct application of Software Engineering to large-size software development projects.
Bio
Dr. Morgan is a known researcher with diverse interests and over 40 articles published in top international journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Morgan is an active member in the IEEE. He received his Ph.D. from Carleton University and is currently teaching at the University of Regina. His research interests span areas of intelligent data networks, vehicular communications, digital security, deep learning, object detection, and intrusion detection. During the late 1990 Dr. Morgan built a system of document scanning and document security with a small start-up called AIT. The system was adopted to protect the Canadian passport and moved to become the DeFacto standard for state travel documents.
Dr. Morgan is also known for his contributions to the IEEE 802.11p standards group and the IEEE P1609.0/.1/.2/.3/.4/.5 WAVE groups as well. He authored and co-authored many research papers in addition to contributions to standards like 3GPP, IETF, IEEE, and IEEE-SA. Dr. Morgan continuous contribution to the standards and the development of the modern vehicular safety methods is aligned with his interest in secure intelligent communications. Recently, Dr. Morgan founded the BRiC Laboratories to investigate, research, and build novel solutions for modern public safety challenges.
