Research Scientist Intern, Mobile Vision (PhD)
Burlingame, CA

Reality Labs (RL) teams are looking for exceptional interns to help us create next generation interaction technologies for virtual and augmented reality. The Mobile Vision team is seeking Research Intern to join various teams in advancing the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning by making fundamental advances in technologies to help interact with and understand our world. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, generative AI, and machine learning. Our interns have an opportunity to make core algorithmic advances and apply their ideas at an unprecedented scale. Many of our interns publish at top tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV. The duration of this internship is typically between 12 to 16 weeks.

The internship research may include, but not limited to the following topics:
  • Data-efficient learning: semi-supervised learning, self-training, self-supervised learning, federated learning, open-vocabulary classification, detection, segmentation.
  • Efficient computer vision: Building state-of-the-art efficient computer vision models for classification, object detection, semantic segmentation, depth estimation, etc., through techniques such as novel architecture design, advanced training recipe, neural architecture search, language-supervised learning, transfer learning, etc.
  • 3D computer vision: Scene and object understanding, Depth estimation, 3D reconstruction, Efficient rendering and reconstruction with NeRF
  • Generative AI: Diffusion and GAN based image, video and 3D generation
  • Multi-task learning
  • Other emerging research areas

About Meta
Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today—beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics.
Meta is committed to providing reasonable support (called accommodations) in our recruiting processes for candidates with disabilities, long term conditions, mental health conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs, or who are neurodivergent or require pregnancy-related support.
