Title: Senior PE Control System Engineer - 75394 
 
Your Responsibilities
As a Senior PE Control System Engineer for the John Deere ISG Electrification team, you will,
  • Develop advanced electric drive controls solutions at both component and system levels for a broad range of applications
  • Validate and deliver controls software through code development, HIL validation, dyno testing, and field integration support
  • Conduct advanced eDrive and vehicle system simulation to support features development and vehicle performance assessment 
  • Interface with stakeholders to develop control system requirements that support vehicle electrification solutions. Mentor other control and software developers in design, modeling, coding, and testing practices.

What Skills You Need
  • 5 or more years of experience for advanced power electronics and control algorithm development
  • 5 or more years of simulation experience for power electronics and control system
  • 3 or more years of hands-on power electronics testing experience   
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Relevant research experience in academic institutes will be equally considered
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Advanced degree with a focus on power electronics and/or control system
  • Experience with advanced electric motor control, dc/dc converter, grid-tied inverter, energy storage integration and vehicle power management
  • Experience with modeling, simulation and Hardware-in-Loop system
  • Experience with advanced control systems and techniques such as observer, model predictive control, etc.
  • Experience with advanced digital signal processing schemes such as filter design  
  • Experience with hybrid electric vehicle applications
  • Experience with advanced research topics
  • Experience with power electronics hardware design
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
 
Minimum of Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on power electronics and/or control system. PhD degree is preferred.

Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Cary, NC, you will produce and/or evaluate design solutions for electronic assemblies to improve cost, quality and performance based on electronic design knowledge of engineering applications together with the involvement of manufacturing, mechanical, software and other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel. In addition, you will:
  • Create, analyze, read, and understand technical requirements written by others to determine the best technical solution for complex problems or projects of difficult scope.
  • Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Lead in resolution of product based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers.

What Skills You Need
  • 5 or more years of experience as an Electronics Design Engineer
  • Experience in electronic circuit design
  • Ability to technically comprehend microprocessor-based embedded electronic, software, and mechanical packaging designs and requirements
  • Ability to technically comprehend testing, manufacturing, quality control, and marketing requirements
  • Ability to adapt electronic circuitry to vehicle and/or fixed equipment applications
  • Ability to perform complex engineering work requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks
  • Able to make preliminary selections or adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Ability to direct the work of engineers, aides or technicians
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience in product design from concept to production
  • Experience with 3-phase motor control inverter design and verification
  • Experience in power electronics design for DC-DC conversion
  • System knowledge of hybrid and/or electric vehicles
  • Experience with MathCAD
  • Experience with electronic circuit simulation tools
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics or other schematic capture tools
  • Experience with designing to harsh environmental specifications
  • Experience with microcontroller and FPGA based designs
  • Experience in leading the electronic design function within a larger project team
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
 
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program

  • Create and implement robust software designs using best practices and present-day tools and techniques
  • Support system integration and general troubleshooting of software features working independently to resolve complex issues
  • Mentor other software developers in design, modeling, coding, and testing practices

What Skills You Need
  • 5 or more years of experience in embedded software development using real time operating systems, task schedulers, and configuring microcontroller peripherals
  • 5 or more years of development experience with the C programming language
  • 5 or more years of development experience using model-based software development
  • 5 or more years of experience employing rigorous process measures to ensure product quality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience with hybrid electric systems
  • Experience with Agile software development methods
  • Experience with test automation using Hardware in the Loop systems
  • Experience with communication protocols such as J1939, ISO11783, UDS, TCP/IP
  • Experience with control systems (e.g. electro-mechanical control or electro-hydraulic control systems)
  • Other programming languages such as C# or Python
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
