SWE Honors Roberta Gleiter (BSChE '60) with Advocating Women in Engineering Award

Roberta Gleiter (BSChE ’60), Chief Executive Officer for the Global Institute for Technology and Engineering (GIFTE), was honored by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) with the Advocating Women in Engineering Award at the WE15 Conference’s SWE Awards Banquet on October 23rd in Nashville, Tennessee.

Roberta Gleiter (BSChE ’60), Chief Executive Officer for the Global Institute for Technology and Engineering (GIFTE), was honored by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) with the Advocating Women in Engineering Award at the WE15 Conference’s SWE Awards Banquet on October 23rd in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Advocating Women in Engineering Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated professional excellence in their chosen STEM field and have proven to be advocates of women in engineering and SWE’s objectives.

Gleiter was specifically cited “For extraordinary, continuous dedication and commitment to the advancement of the engineering profession, particularly advocating the advancement of women in engineering.”

Gleiter has served the Society of Women Engineers in many capacities from President of the local Los Angeles Section and Director of the Sonora Region up to national Awards & Recognition Chair, national Vice President of Student Services and national President of the Society.

She received the School of Chemical Engineering’s Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award in 2008.
