Professors Greeley and Morgan Named Purdue University Faculty Scholars

Dr. John Morgan, Professor of Chemical Engineering, and Dr. Jeff Greeley, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, have been named Purdue University Faculty Scholars. This University-wide honor is given to select mid-career faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

April 11, 2016

Dr. John Morgan, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of Graduate Studies, and Dr. Jeff Greeley, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, have been named University Faculty Scholars beginning in 2016 and continuing for a period of five years.

They join a select group of mid-career Purdue faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction. Previous Chemical Engineering faculty members who have received this award include Steve Beaudoin, David Corti, Mike Harris, Joe Pekny, Fabio Ribeiro, and Ken Thomson.

The award provides $10,000 per year for five years for the support of research and academic programs.

Professor Morgan joined the School in 2000. He has a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. from Rice University. His research group is interested in engineering metabolic pathways towards increased production of chemicals as well as novel biologically active metabolites by combining molecular biology with mathematical modeling of metabolism that enables the rational design of modifications to existing pathways.

Professor Greeley joined the School in 2013. He has a B.S. from the University of Texas-Austin and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research group combines first principles calculations of interfaces with classical thermodynamic and kinetic theories to predict macroscopic catalytic and materials properties and applies these general techniques to several specific classes of interfaces, with an ultimate goal of understanding and designing materials from first principles.
